Landscaping & Lawn Care in Fuquay-Varina, NC

Getting a Fuquay-Varina lawn established

A lot of lawn problems we're asked about start with how the yard was built: compacted fill soil, a thin layer of topsoil and sod or seed that was never given a real chance to root. The fix is usually a combination of soil testing, core aeration, the right fertilizer schedule and, where the lawn is too far gone, new sod laid on properly prepared ground.

Many yards here are warm-season grass (Bermuda or Zoysia) in full sun, while shadier lots are often tall fescue. They need different mowing heights and are fed in different seasons, so we confirm the grass type first and build the program around it, including pre-emergent weed control timed for late winter.

A typical year of care for a Fuquay-Varina lawn

1. Late winter: Pre-emergent weed control and shrub pruning before spring growth.
2. Spring: Mowing starts; sod and plantings go in; beds get fresh mulch.
3. Summer: Bermuda and Zoysia are fed and mowed through peak growth; fire ant treatments.
4. Fall: Aeration and overseeding for fescue areas, leaf cleanup.
5. Winter: Sprinkler winterization and planning next year's projects.
